About the course
This 4-week course takes a deep dive into different modes of creation. We’ll play with movement, text, sound, writing, drawing, and scene work, including ways of layering different mediums to create unexpected, richly-textured works. We’ll focus primarily on process, exploring pathways of creation that get under the rational mind to access our most curious, creative selves. You can expect to explore solo and in collaboration with others. In addition to in-class reflection and creation, we’ll provide optional weekly take-home prompts to support you feeding your own creative process. Artists of all disciplines are welcome. The only thing required is a willingness to explore.

Aviva and Molly Rose-Williams were born three minutes apart and shared a room for the first ten
years of their lives. Years of soccer and recreational circus led the two to develop a mutual love of movement and physical investigation.
After high school, Aviva moved to Québec to attend professional circus school, majoring in Chinese pole and acrobatics. In 2013, she moved to France and co-founded the collectif À Sens Unique. Before COVID, she performed year round throughout Europe, both with the collective and as a solo artist. Molly began dancing at Middlebury College, and continued when she moved back to the Bay Area. In addition to performing throughout the Bay Area and beyond, before COVID Molly regularly organized community events for collaborative artistic investigation, including performance salon series, Show & Tell.
In 2019, the duo developed their first full-length show, “Mind The Gap,” through a residency at Kinetic Arts Center, a circus school in Oakland CA. The show was critically-acclaimed and nominated as Best Special Production by Theatre Bay Area. They are currently beginning work on their next project, “Projects”.
